This appellation was created in 1975.The production of this sparkling wine is largely restricted to three regions in Burgundy : the wine-growing areas around Auxerre and Châtillon-sur-Seine in the north, and the Côte Chalonnaise (principally Rully) in the south.
Crémant de Bourgogne can be made using several types of grape : Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and also Gamay "jus blanc", Aligoté, Melon, and Sacy. Each grape variety has is own distinctive taste.
What Pinot Noir has offer in robustness and richness, a Chardonnay can match in finesse, suppleness and aromas of white blossom and toast.
If Gamay recommends itself for its juiciness, vivacity and volume, Aligote's unique acidity increases the wine's effervescence.
Skilful blending techniques can be used to produce a wine with its own definable style while remaining faithful to the traditional character of the vineyard.
This Crémant offers the elegant finess one expects of a good sparkling wine, together with its particular aromatic freshness. It makes a perfect aperitif, either on its own or with crème de cassis (Kir Royal). The Rosé goes perfectly with sweets and deserts.
8-9 °C (47-49°F) As an aperitif ; strawberry slice ; ice-cream with gingerbread ; apple upside-down cake ; fresh or stewed fruit
